Gen2V (D2V platform) multimedia radios were installed on Kia and Hyundai cars in 2019-2021.
- The Gen2V D2V platform (produced by Mobis) runs on Linux OS.
In previous years, car manufacturers installed older generation head units: GEN 1.0 in 2010-2015, GEN 2.0 in 2015-2016, GEN 4.0 in 2016-2017, GEN 5.0 in 2016-2020. Newer generation Gen5W radios have been installed since 2020.

Gen2V radios have different standard menus and differ in the version number of the standard software (Software Version).
How To Find Out GEN2V Software Version
- Turn on your multimedia device and wait until it boots up completely.
- Press the Setup button once in the main menu of the radio (or on the panel under the radio) and scroll to the end of the screen.
- The General button will appear, click it. The General Settings window will open.
- In this window, the version of the original software is shown in the SW Info/Update field, see the line of SW Ver. or Software Version.

Note:
The six-digit number at the end of each version shows the build date of that version. For example, the firmware for the Hyundai Sonata multimedia radio DN8.USA.D2V.002.101.201119 was built on November 19, 2020.
Functionality of GEN2V localization
Gen2V multimedia devices of Korean or American assembly can be localized.
Functionality of localization of GEN2V (D2V platform):
- Localization of the multimedia device (the translation of the entire multimedia system into the supported language without errors and inaccuracies).
Supported regions: Korea, General, Canada, Australia, Mexico, South Africa, USA, Mid East, Russia, Guam, Brazil, China, Europe, Turkey, India, Iran (depends on a car model).
Supported European languages: Русский, Česky, Dansk, Deutsch, English, Español, Français, Italiano, Maguar, Nederlands, Norsk, Polski, Purtuguês, Slovenčhina, Suomi, Svenska, Türkçe (depends on a car model).
Please note: we do not guarantee additional languages, the multimedia device may be fully localized, may be partially localized, may not be localized, it depends on the car model; please send us an inquiry before ordering if it is important for you.
- Conversion of the radio range to the European standard (even radio stations 10KHz/100KHz, names of radio stations in a RDS format).
- All standard functions of the radio are retained (no possibility to install third-party applications, no original European maps).
Important
- The VIN code of the car shall be provided for localization.
- There is no possibility to install third-party applications; there are no standard maps (the D2V radio has only 500 MB of internal memory, this is not enough to make a full-fledged alternative customware).
- When localizing a radio, the instrument panel is usually localized as well. Miles to kilometers, if the car has such a switch (in new cars you can already select miles to kilometers in the settings), then they will be converted. If there is no switch, then it will remain as is.
- During the localization process, the original firmware does not change. All standard functions remain as they are.

GEN2V localization is only possible in Korean or American biult cars, for example:
