GEN5W CHN Multimedia Update

Multimedia systems Gen1 China OEM Navigation (S5W_M platform) have been installed on Kia and Hyundai cars since 2022.

• The Gen5W CHN.S5W_M platform (manufactured by Mobis with a wide screen) runs on Android 9 OS.

In previous years, car manufacturers installed older generation head units: GEN 1.0  in 2010-2015,  GEN 2.0  in 2015-2016,  GEN 4.0 in 2016-2017, GEN 5.0 in 2016-2020, GEN2V in 2019-2021 as well as GEN5W and GEN5W MES (Middle East) since 2019.

Gen5W navigation systems are presented in a wide technical variety, have different standard menus and differ in the Software version (SW Version).

How To Find Out Gen5W Software Version

1. Turn on your media device and wait until it boots up completely.
2. Press the Setup button on the Main menu of the radio once and scroll to the end of the screen.
3. The General button will appear, click it.
4. The General Settings window opens.
5. In this window, the version of the standard software is shown by the line “SW Info/Update”.

Note:
The six-digit number at the end of each SW version indicates the build date of that version. For example, software TMC23MY.CHN.S5W_M.001.001.220705 was compiled on July 5, 2022.

GEN5W CHN Customware Functions

Alternative GEN5W CHN customware allows you to add a number of useful additional functions (applications) to Kia and Hyundai multimedia devices of Chinese assembly.

GEN5W CHN:

1. Localization of the multimedia device (the English or Russian language is available in all multimedia menus).
2. Alternative navigation systems: Waze, 2GIS, Navitel, Yandex.Navigator.
3. No original maps are available.
4. Voice commands (in Russian only).
5. The built-in Wi-Fi is activated.
6. Internet (traffic jams online for navigation applications; Internet radio, IP TV, messengers, etc.).
7. Android applications (YouTube, Online TV, Radio online, and others).
8. Original CarPlay is activated (wired only).
9. The Android Auto application is added.
10. Android Auto and CarPlay prompts are displayed on the dashboard
11. Even-numbered radio stations.
12. And others.

Important

1. When a multimedia device is localized, the control panel (or the dashboard) is in English.
